NASA research into the development of clean energy

Clean Energy

Researchers at NASA Ames are conducting cutting-edge research in the development of clean energy technologies for NASA mission needs in the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate and the Science Mission Directorate. Our renewable energy focus is on advancing biofuels, solar, and wind technologies that also help reduce our nation’s dependence on petroleum-based fuels. By advancing clean energy technologies, NASA Ames hopes to help our nation reduce its generation of greenhouse gases and create a sustainable future here on Earth.

Wind energy in Aragon, GES builds 3 114 MW wind farms

With this wind power project GES strengthens its relationship with the specialized renewable energy funds, Copenhagen Infraestructure Partners (CIP).

Global Energy System (GES), a comprehensive provider of engineering, construction and maintenance for renewable energy, wind and solar, builds the new Alenza cluster of three 114 MW wind farms, between the municipalities of Fuendetodos and Azuara, in the province of Zaragoza.

Wind energy in Argentina reaches 2,099 MW

Argentina continues to add renewable developments despite the complex local macroeconomic context. Wind energy technology with wind turbines is the one that makes the greatest contribution to the energy matrix.

The complex macroeconomic scenario in which the country is submerged on the brink of default and the restrictions imposed to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus were not enough to slow the advance of renewable energy in the country.

The block on UK onshore wind farms is no more

onshore wind pinwheelOnshore wind companies can now compete for clean energy contracts. Despite onerous planning barriers, this is a big step.

In the windiest country in Europe, the UK government ended a five-year block on new onshore wind turbines. It’s a victory for campaigners, and anyone who wants action on the climate crisis and cares about lower energy bills in future.

Wind Energy Leads Germany To Renewable Energy Record In February

wind turbinesFraunhofer ISE maintains detailed records on an hour-by-hour basis of where Germany gets its electricity from. It then makes that information available online on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis in chart form. An alert Twitter user took a look at the data Fraunhofer provided recently for February and noticed something unusual. Germany derived 61% of its electrical energy from renewables last month — the highest ever for the country. Continue reading “Wind Energy Leads Germany To Renewable Energy Record In February”

Wind Generation Exceeds Hydroelectric in 2019: Stocks in Focus

wind generation from wind turbinePer a latest report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), annual electricity generation from wind energy in the nation exceeded hydroelectric generation for the first time in 2019. Impressively, this announcement was in line with EIA’s prediction around middle of last year.

Notably, the ISE Global Wind Energy Index has returned a solid 31.9% in 2019 compared with S&P 500 Index’s 30.3% return. This should encourage investors interested in renewable energy to turn their focus toward wind stocks, in particular. Continue reading “Wind Generation Exceeds Hydroelectric in 2019: Stocks in Focus”
